The Heart of God

For the last few weeks we have been examining what has been the basic purpose of God for nearly six thousand years, which is restoration. God is going to restore man and the earth from all of the consequences of the fall. Understanding this is basic to understanding the purpose of God in anything. Understanding God's purpose for this will give us hope for anything - any relationship, any church, and any problem. Then, as we see Him restore, we will grow in faith for bigger needs and bigger problems. By the end, His people will believe Him for the nations.

Day 23 - Marriage

       So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept;
       then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place.
       And the LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

       And the man said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh

The Winds of the Earth—The Book of Revelation

         After the three great signs of the earthquake, the darkness, and the falling stars, the heavens split apart, with nearly half of mankind turning to the new religion called secular humanism. We now come to truly remarkable events as described in Revelation 6:15-17:

   Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;

Day 119 - Heaven in a Mountain

A fundamental calling of Christians is to experience heaven, and bring heaven to earth. The prayer the Lord gave us to pray is for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Daniel gave a very specific prophecy about how this would happen when he interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

This dream is remarkable for its accurate foretelling of the coming great empires of men, which have now been fulfilled just as he foresaw.

Day 71 - Purified Wine

There is a remarkable warning in Jeremiah 48:11-12:

       Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel,
       neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
       Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall caus

Drawing Near to Christ- The Greatest Christian Life, Part 35

        We have been addressing the elements or characteristics that make up the greatest Christian life. Of course, this is from my perspective, and others may have different ones. That is the beauty of the body of Christ—we all “know in part,” so to get the whole picture, we must put what we have together with what others have. I would count that as another characteristic of a great Christian life—the humility to be open and teachable so we can learn from others.

Prepared for the Times, Part 39

     A friend of mine is a chemist, and when he heard about the chemicals that were being used to disperse the oil in the Gulf after the BP oil disaster, he thought that the dispersants were more toxic than the oil and probably were being used to make the oil disappear from sight. He said this would ultimately do more damage than the oil to the Gulf ecosystem. Just a few weeks ago, they discovered a huge plume of oil sitting on the bottom that was over six hundred feet high, over a mile wide, and over twenty-two miles long!
