Change

Change” has become the word for the hour in American politics. This is truly a time when major changes are needed in our government. We do not want to overlook the greatness of our federal government and all that it has accomplished. Furthermore, our federal government is the head of the greatest country in the world, possibly in world history. Even so, because of the huge amount of laws, regulations, and then counter regulations, it is now like a head that has grown far out of proportion to the rest of the body, and the body can no longer carry its weight.

Day 92 - The High Calling of God

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have
been created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16).

This Scripture makes it clear that we were created by the Son and for the Son. This is carried a little further in Romans 8:29:

The First "Father of Modern Missions"- The Greatest Christian Life

Count Ludwig von Zinzendorf

(1700–1760)

Historians have called Count Zinzendorf “the rich young ruler who said yes.” Born into great wealth and a position of power, he was a member in the court of one of the great thrones of Europe. Even so, he regarded pastors of small congregations as more important because they dealt with eternal issues. For this reason, his highest vision was to be a pastor.

National Health Scare - Part 5

The great cowboy philosopher/humorist Will Rogers once said: “This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.” That may have never been truer than now. Congress is back, and the nation is bracing for what is about to be done to us.

The Next Disaster

It is crucial that we learn all of the lessons that we can from the Katrina disaster as fast as we can because more are coming. We have not even finished counting the bodies from Katrina, and Hurricane Rita is churning in the Gulf threatening Texas and Louisiana with even more destruction. It is likely, at the very least, to displace tens of thousands of more people, as well as further wreck the Gulf Coast oil industry.

Too Big To See

At this writing, the saga of Edward Snowden still dominates the news. There may have never been a more poignant example of how easily our media and our elected representatives can take their eyes off the ball and begin to major on minors. Snowden may be a traitor, or he may be a hero, but he is not the real story here. Chasing after the story of Snowden’s plight is like trying to swat a gnat when there is a lion charging you.
